If you’ve been to Australia, or seen this video, chances are you’ve heard of Doughnut Time. They are an institution in Oz not to be missed.
“But why are you telling me? I live in the UK”, I hear you ask.
Well, my friends…Doughnut Time have landed in London and the time has come for us Brits to get stuck in.
Located on Shaftsbury Avenue (just up the road from Les Mis) you’ll find the beautiful mint green facade of Doughnut Time with it’s iconic neon sign shining brightly above the hatch. Doughnut Time isn’t a sit in affair. It’s a hole in the wall with a window of doughnuts for you to choose from.
The menu changes up fairly regularly but a few choices you might find include:
Veruca Salt – a salted caramel centred doughtnut.
Slim Shady – Vanilla glaze with mini M&M’s.
It’s Always A Gay Time – Milk chocolate glaze, crushed biscuits, golden caramelised crepes and filled with honeycomb custard.
Today I was fortunate enough to be located on Dean St for work so popped over on my lunch break to pick up a Monday afternoon treat. I opted for Veruca Salt, whilst my colleague got It’s Always A Gay Time. Both cost £4, which is steep for a doughnut, but it’s worth it. They are massive for one, and taste amazing! Plus they make for some great insta-pics.
What time is it? It’s Doughnut Time. GO GO GO.
